The Process of Prayer

Prayer can be like an insurance claim. You’ve paid into having insurance for years. Every month, you’ve sent in a payment for an insurance policy to cover any incidents or accidents that may happen to you. You need to have coverage in case of unexpected events or to cover an ongoing series of issues.
Say, for instance, insurance for your car. You may have a policy that covers theft, roadside emergencies, towing, flat tires, fire, or crashes. If someone is injured the policy will cover hospital stays and injuries. If one of these events occurs, you will need to send in an incident report stating what happened and request financial assistance to cover any costs. From there it goes to the processing department. Why does it seem like this is the longest wait of all? The accident was like boom, fast, that quick! The paperwork to file the claim must be within a certain time period, usually within 3 days. So, why does the processing seem to take forever?
You do all your due diligence to get your end of the agreement or policy completed … then the wait clock is turned on. You likely have to call them and ask them the status of your claim. Then, you get the standard answer … your claim is being processed and that’s all the information you’ll get. They may even request you to submit more paperwork. They say that your claim has to be reviewed, investigated, adjusted, remitted … then they’ll either accept your claim or deny your claim. They say that many people will have to discuss and go over your story to see how to handle your claim.
I would love to be able to say this is not the case with prayer … in a way it is. Yes, your request goes to God but sometime times He asks you to wait it out for His answer. Sometimes, prayer is like a baby in the womb. It is the process of waiting that may have you walking the floors. Last week we told you to hold on to your faith … keep walking by faith, the delivery has a due date!!
