The human voice has a message. It delivers words that impact purpose in so many different ways. These words of emotion form images depending on the person who said it and how it was said. The Bible says in Proverbs 4:23, “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” (NKJV). In other words, everything you do flows from what is in your heart, which stems from your emotions. Therefore, you have to be careful with what you let in your heart.
Maya Angelou said, “Words mean more than what is set down on paper. It takes the human voice to infuse them with deeper meaning.” The heart’s voice can speak words of life and death, which reveal the intentions of their assignment. Even Proverbs 18:21 tells us that death and life are in the power of the tongue.
How have the words that were spoken to you affected your heart? How have they affected your belief system and what you think? “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7a)
Who told you that you are barren? Who told you that you would never amount to anything and can’t produce? Could it be that maybe you are just to SHUT UP?
Everyone has a story. What is yours? Maybe you shared your purpose and dream to others that left them shattered because their response wasn't what you expected. Their discouraging and destructive words were like a knife that cut your wings off leaving you grounded and silent. As you rehearsed the hurtful words that inflict your soul with pain, disappointment, rejection, jealousy or belittlement, a stronghold was erected in your mind. It made you accept thoughts that were contrary to the Word of God.
Have you ever wanted something so bad it almost drove you crazy? It wasn’t because someone else had it, but rather that you didn’t. You just wanted to fit in, but a closed door kept you out. It appeared easy to enter in. Everyone else was doing it, but you couldn’t no matter what. You felt unloved, but everyone was telling you the opposite because it was their version of love. They wanted you to chill out and just accept the fact that you were not given the same privileges as others. Excluded and feeling barren, you started rethinking the purpose and where you fit in this thing called life.
In the story of Hannah, you will read about barren and closed wombs. A barren (infertile) womb is considered dead or voided from purpose. Hannah’s story starts off like this. Losing her identity, position, and purpose, to the point she just shut up and locked herself in and everyone else out.
Hannah became tenacious and was still true to her name, which means grace. It is called a palindrome when something is spelled the same backward and forward. HANNAH was that. She remained graceful in her going and coming. It was grace that helped her keep her focus as she discovered her purpose. Hannah learned that it’s in the secret private places God waits for us to SHUT UP and stop talking and start praying.
