Prayer Protects Your Mind and Mental Health

McKnightEnterprises.org

This is very important in the season we are in, where it seems like the chaos will never let up! We are in a fight to stay above it all and keep the joy!

Depression is a mood disorder, extreme sadness, sleep problems, loss of appetite, and feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. Life struggles socially, financially, and mentally which are afflicted by issues or people can bring depression. Depression comes too when you feel like no one is hearing you and helping you deal with what is bothering you. Some people may hate to see you coming. They don’t want to hear your sad story never considering that you don’t want to tell it. People will shut you out so they don't have to connect with you and your pain. So, you hide deep within yourself.

Have you ever been there? A dark place, losing your purpose, losing your reason for living. It takes God to pull you out and turn your lights back on and get you out of the grip of death. Take a walk where the homeless live. Look into the faces of empty people who could care less if they are alive or dead … hopeless, helpless, homeless, purposeless. Some want out, some don’t want out, some will never go back, some end up in mental institutions or prisons and die there.

This is why we must keep rehearsing God's promises to avoid being derailed by what we see around us! Life can throw you off! Your vision and purpose can get blurred. The perceptions of man can make you lose direction. It will take that fervent prayer to get you back on track. When you feel you can’t talk to anyone, you can always talk to Him!!

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief to bear. What a privilege to carry, everything to God in Prayer. ~Alan Jackson
