While praying this morning, I was telling God I felt I have been in a hard place for a very long time, and I found myself wrestling with God and His promises. Have you ever wrestled in your faith? Well, I have … allow me to keep it real, so I can heal!
God interrupted me with these Scriptures:
Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me? (Jeremiah 32:27)
I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. (Psalm 37:25)
Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son. (Genesis 18:14)
I was prompted to read the entire Chapter 18 of Genesis. Then, revelation began. I saw God’s Word, God’s Patterns, and God’s Ways are absolute! I saw a comparison of the stories between Abraham and Sarah and Mary and Joseph. Both were visited and promised a child who would bring prosperity and hope that would affect generations to come.
When the final word came to Abraham, he was in the desert of Mamre, meaning strength. After waiting for the promise, he still stood in a place of strength. Hebrews says Sarah received ‘strength to conceive’. Three angels or strangers came to them after a long wait, and I’m sure Abraham and Sarah experienced ridicule and mocking. Similar for Joseph and Mary, three angels or strangers appeared to them after their season of ridicule and waiting. A promised seed, huh? God did it? Here’s Mary’s story of strength to conceive:
For with God nothing shall be impossible. (Luke 1 :37)
And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. (Luke 1:45)
Sometimes God hides you in a desert or sends you to a ‘cousin’ who is going through a similar situation for strength and support. Sometimes He sends strangers to remind you because those closest to you mean well, but they no longer believe or see what you have talked about for years happening. This causes you to settle in and believe this is it. Then that little kicker within, that HOLY thing jumps at the voice of one who knows and can identify that there is a deliverer inside of you.
Abraham’s was in a tent in a desert, not in a city like Bethlehem. Bethlehem is called the House of Bread and Provision. God wants to establish you in a city with the capacity to bless and acknowledge the God within you!
