In Rough Times, Hold on to Faith

McKnightEnterprises.org

How do you hold on to what you ‘asked God for’ after years of waiting? How do you hold on to your dream before you see it manifest? How do you hold on when you can't share your secret with anyone else for fears of ridicule or laughter or shame? How do you hold on when even you, yourself, are wondering if it will happen before you die?

You see, you have been there many times before. You have stood at the door with your hand on the handle and the door never opened. It feels like that door has been locked for years! How many calls have you waited for but no one was on the line? How many years did have you waited in line to hear your name being announced? There are songs written about these moments, "You're next in line for a Miracle" Another song, "It’s your Time, Your turn, Your Season." But there you stand, hoping, wishing, praying, believing but never receiving. How do you still get up every day and go through it all over and over again? One word answers these questions … Faith!

Scripture says it’s all according to our personal faith. Sometimes our faith gives out and we have to say, “Lord, help my unbelief!” Even Abraham's wife Sarah had to pray to receive strength to believe! Tough times are all around you. Challenges on every side. But it’s when your faith is tested that you get stronger. You can't afford to lose your faith in God and His Word … no matter what!

Holding fast to your faith despite everything can be challenging. Hebrews Chapter 11 lists many of the heroes of faith. I believe to get into this hall of faith, you have to take your own walk of faith. As said in Hebrews Chapter 12, our great clouds full of witnesses is our walk of faith.

So, how can one begin to explain faith? I’m not sure that we fully can explain faith. It seems that in each of our lives we must walk it out to fully explain it and even then, many still won’t get it because faith has to be personally lived out. Keep the faith, no matter what!

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)
