Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you keep talking about something and it seems like no one is listening? Do others keep giving you advice and quoting Scriptures but nothing they are saying is helping to fix the situation? You finish talking and you are okay for a while but then it hits again. What does it mean when people say, “Rise above it or get over it?” Do they literally mean elevate your body from the ground and fly over whatever it is? Why don’t they just encourage you to stay grounded until an understanding comes or the issue is settled? This is called prayer! You need to go low and stay low until you hear what to do next. If not on your knees, in your spirit! Don't stress out. Don't complain … cry out to Him for help. Releasing all the frustration it is a good thing. A good cry just might make you feel better!
Complaining vs crying for help.
The Oxford Dictionary defines a complaint as an expression of dissatisfaction or annoyance about a state of affairs or an event.
Some doctors believe unresolved issues are the source of many physical issues. When we suppress mental issues sometimes it manifests in our body tissues. Stress carried in the body can cause major pains from headaches to backaches to cancers.
Right now, the world is facing so many crises we certainly will not run out of things to pray for. It’s better to get it out rather than hold it in and become frustrated. But be sure it’s a cry for God's help vs complaining. Complaining won’t move Him … crying for His help will.
The Psalm writer says complaining is noise:
Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise. (Psalm 55:2)
Always know God is near and nothing catches Him by surprise. Empathy and feeling what others are going through teach us to pray from their place of pain. Pray from your heart as if it was you! A loving parent usually responds to a cry vs a complaint. God can handle your tears!
Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. (Psalms 61:1-2)
