Green Pastures/Still Waters
Learning to trust the Good Shepherd as He is leading has never been hard for me. In the last forty years, there have been many places I felt God sent me to help others build their ministries. Then, there were other places I personally asked to go and His reply was, “If you desire.” Every move was not a God assignment, but we were still in it together. Our commitment to each other has always been for better or worse until death do us part.
Throughout my journey the Good Shepherd led me to green pastures and beside the still waters … He knew what was ahead. Green pastures represent provision and still waters are a place of peace.
Remember when your parents told you as a child, “Go lay down.” It was their way of saying, “You are tired and need a nap.” In other words, it is time to rest. Rest means getting replenished, refreshed, and eating the Word of God so we are prepared for the journey that will present challenges along the way.
During a time of rest, the shepherd never tells the sheep to lie down in an area that is not grassy, or in the desert where there is no water, or by a watering hole where dangers lurk. He always leads His sheep to an open plush area where He can watch them in a very peaceful and secure environment.
May you trust in the God of peace to lead you to places of rest.
