What comes to mind when you hear the word glory? For me, money, fame, and God. If you are being propelled to a higher level of leadership, which means influencing others, how you handle this position is the key to your success or failure.
When you are just a regular Joe Little, there is little expectation. As your life reveals that you are about to do great things, with that authority comes accountability and responsibility. As you excel the pressure will mount as you are exalted for a greater purpose. You will now have to represent. Some will expect you to be and do as they perceive you, but in the end, your character must remain true to display the God in you.
As money comes to you, what will you do with it? As the spotlight hits your private and public life, what will the people see? Will you remain humble and give God the Glory? Or, will you boast of your ability and qualifications? Will all this power change you? When you have a platform to speak and others are following you, where will you take them? So many people started right and ended wrong … celebrities who were preachers, politicians, musicians. Most who have been given a stage fall from moral or character flaws.
Satan was full of all of this, but he bucked against the most important component of the Glory … God! Satan bucked against heaven. He rejected God. He eliminated God as the one who gave him all he had. And on top of that, Satan encourages others to follow his lead. Man always runs into trouble when he eliminates God or chooses his own way. This is happening as men change the doctrines of God to fit where they are.
David is one who had his share of troubles, yet, in the end, he was anointed to touch and handle the Glory. He made major mistakes but because of his relationship with God, David knew how and who to worship.
Success will come when you Give God the Glory in all you do.
